Nevada ADSD Personal Care Programs
Nevada’s Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) administers several programs that may help cover the cost of personal care services for qualifying residents. These include the Home and Community-Based Medicaid Waiver programs, which support adults who would otherwise require nursing home care.
Family Personal Care works with clients receiving support through ADSD programs. For more information about eligibility and enrollment, visit adsd.nv.gov or contact us — we’ll help you navigate your options.

Frequently Asked Questions — Personal Care Services in Las Vegas
What is the difference between personal care and home health care?
Personal care is non-medical assistance with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, meal prep, and mobility support. Home health care is medical care delivered at home by licensed nurses or therapists. Family Personal Care provides personal care services only; we do not provide medical or clinical care.
How many hours of personal care per day does my loved one need?
That depends entirely on your loved one’s individual needs and daily schedule. Some clients need just a few hours of morning care; others benefit from full-day support. We’ll work with you to build a care plan that fits your family’s needs and budget.
Can personal care aides provide medication management in Nevada?
In Nevada, non-medical personal care aides can provide medication reminders — prompting clients to take their scheduled medications at the right time. They cannot administer medications or make medical decisions. If skilled medication management is needed, a home health nurse would be appropriate.
Does Medicare cover personal care services in Las Vegas?
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) generally does not cover non-medical personal care. Some Medicare Advantage plans may include limited coverage. Nevada Medicaid and ADSD Waiver programs may cover personal care for qualifying individuals. Contact us at (702) 906-1999 and we’ll help you understand your options.
How do I get started with personal care services from Family Personal Care?
Call us at (702) 906-1999 or fill out our contact form. We’ll schedule a free in-home consultation to assess your loved one’s needs, answer your questions, and build a personalized care plan. There is no obligation to enroll after the consultation.
What a Typical Day Looks Like With a Personal Care Aide
Every care plan is built around the individual client’s schedule, preferences, and medical needs. A morning personal care visit might include help with bathing, grooming, and dressing, followed by breakfast preparation and medication reminders. An afternoon visit might focus on a light lunch, housekeeping, and companionship. An evening visit might involve dinner prep and help getting ready for bed.
There is no one-size-fits-all routine. Our care coordinators work directly with families to design a schedule that fits the client’s day — not ours.
